Western Chances, the Crusaders–Merv Hughes Foundation and the Footscray Edgewater Cricket Club delivered a unique program of coaching and development for young cricketers in September-October 2007.

The program involved up to 200 participants in a training program overseen by Merv Hughes and other current and former first class cricketers, in conjunction with the Crusaders network and Footscray Edgewater Cricket Club.
At the conclusion of the training program, two 20/20 matches were played, and a further group will go through and participate in the Crusaders Secondary Schools Cup.
Footscray Edgewater Cricket Club hosted the training program.
