Western Chances | About Us

The Western Chance's model is based on an initiative called 'Chances for Children' which was started by Mallee Family Care in North West Victoria in 1979.

Chances for Children was formed to assist young people in the north west region to achieve their full potential by removing economic and other barriers which often confront those who live in regional Australia in their access to further education.

Having seen Chances for Children in action, Terry Bracks believed a similar scholarship-based model could apply just as successfully in Melbourne's West.

With a sound foundation and organisational structure in place, Western Chances is now really making a difference. In a relatively short time, we have acheived some impressive outcomes and established strong partnerships with supporters, schools, young people and community groups who share our vision.
